I was going to rebarrel a 223 Montana and do the other tweaks.22 skadoo said:Barrett got there shit together, they got some people there you shoot, and they listen to what people want.I can't wait until they come out with a 223 in this rifle.I will put a swfa 1x4 on it and start poking holes in shit.
Isn't that how it always happens?Firth said:If it's not too much trouble, remember to sandbag a little after you get them up and running. I just got set up with matching Kimbers (fast twist 22-250, 6.5 creed, 6x ff) and I'd like to be satisfied with what I have for a bit. (grin)
I'm planning on buying a 6.5 Creedmoor, any word on the shipping dates?snowchaser said:I spoke with Barrett customer service yesterday, 22-250, 308, and 06' shipping in about 3 weeks, 7-08 summertime.
06's......Big Stick said:I reckon a few will arrive in these parts,as it's got a lot going for it..............
Thanks snowchaser. Really looking forward to hearing the reports on these before I jump.snowchaser said:I don't know about any of the other offerings as I asked about the 7-08 and the other info was given. I am planning on a 7-08, but might have to give a 22-250 whirl while I wait.
Passed on to me a couple of days ago.Hope to begin shipping to distributors later this month.
Thank You

Patience is a virtue....JCM said:Tryin to hold out for a 6.5, but I may give in and go tree-O-8.
To clarify, the action on the Barrett is SS...don't think they make a non-SS action. All seem twisted right. The mag box is the biggest plus, depending on what you're feeding it may not matter as much. Stock style/fit may be another pro depending on the shooter's preference.DZNNF7 said:I'm struggling to see the advantage over a Montana in 6.5. Similar weight, more money, [color:#FF0000]no SS action[/color], and the Kimber has a great COAL/mag/twist setup from the factory.
243 I get - you finally get one twisted and mag-boxed to shoot the right bullets. Sounds like the 22's will be similar.
There is 1/10" difference in Kreedmire to 308 case length. The ONLY way bullets get better,is to get longer and more slickery.DZNNF7 said:Which is practically necessary on .308 length cartridges, but hardly a thing on the 6.5. Don't get me wrong....I'll probably buy one in .243!
At 7-08 velocities it looks like the 162's are a little flatter shooting and within .5 MOA of drift to the 180 until about 900 yards. This was just a quick calc with my phone so I may not have the data quite perfect.Lineman said:Wouldn't it be way out there before they would be ahead of 162s?
Yea I think they done A LOT right with that rifle. Can't see you not loving it.Brazo said:With our 6.5 Creed Barrett in hand, I made up a dummy round with the 147's last night.
2.910" with a square kiss on the lands.
Anyone else do the same with the same bullet or different bullets?
It's throated with the 147's to put the shank/boattail transition directly mated to the neck/shoulder junction of the brass. 3" magazine box to boot. Seems that Ronnie guy knows what he is doing. Will report back results when dad goes to shoot next week.
I have never set up the chrony for that one unfortunately. It's a 22" barrel. If I get it set up I will let you know for sure.bobnob said:Brazo, what's that 105 Scenar load chrono at, and at what bbl length, if you don't mind me asking?
Hurry and shoot that bitch..............(grin)snowchaser said:162 ELD X measure 2.9370 COAL and 120 X's measure 2.8215 to the lands. Plenty of room for those.
Better safe, than sorry.snowchaser said:It's going to be a little while, Barrett just called me, there is possibly a hardness issue with the bolt and they want the rifle back to check it. They are sending a next day pick up tag for it. If there is an issue with the bolt they will replace it. I was going to load up some different loads tonight, but now i will wait untill it gets back, so i can recheck headspace and throating.
