Nabbed a 1-9" 22-250 the other day. No name cromoly mag sporter tube, on an older 700. Throat is long. Ran a quick ladder with 75 berger vlds over RL15. 35g got me 3270 fps with no sign of pressure. I ran the berger first, thinking it had the best chance at stabilizing. All the ho;les in the target are round, but velocity isn't quite where i expected. I'm thinking it's time to try a 75 amax ( don't have any ELD's on the shelf). Is R15 where I want to be, or maybe something else?

'15 for me there.

I'll go '17 for 88's,but you've no worries there as 9" won't do it,as I'm sure you know.

Stability is a function of rotational velocity and the 'Max will be happy in said platform........................

One very strange thing that happened. Because I wasn't sure the barrel was twisted as advertised, I shot ladders with 50 vmax, 69 smks, and 75 vlds. All were in virgin WW hulls, with necks run over a mandrel. 50s and 69s performed as expected, but the 75's showed soot all the way down the outside of the case. Ordinarilly I would say this is a sign of insufficient pressure, but if that was the case I can't see 3270 fps. Not terribly speedy, but is the Lovelace throat dropping pressure that much?

throat is so damn deep that a 75 amax is only into the case .125" Dug around an found a die that constricts necks .003 We'll see what's what here shortly.
