Don't do it, man. The Montana stock is about 50% of the goodness. Put your 10's in a jar for a few weeks and upgrade....

The Fauxtana isn't even in the same ballpark...go REALtana all the way.

Mag constraints are same/same...............

I bought one in 6.5CM with the intent of swapping out the stock with a REALtana stock. Did just that and it went well. The barreled action is identical to the older ones (no threaded barrel). I put the Faux stock on a 308 barreled action and sold it. The Hunter should be helping to create a demand for aftermarket stocks while the factory stocks get tossed.

That's not a bad move, I'd pick up one of the Hunters up from the Whittaker's sale if they had included the Creed in the mix, to do the same thing smokinggun did.

Trouble is,REALtana stocks do not abound and by the time you snag one,you are already at REALtana loot.

Anything else is gonna be heavier and steal thunder.

Cut the check up front and cut to the fucking chase..............

I've never seen a Montana take-off for sale, ever, and I've looked. That said it is a good way to convert a past mistake [.308] into a victory [any other caliber].

This...as I have a .308 Montana. I'd simply play swapaloo with stocks and such... The way I see it, one will make it's way to the house before long.

It only cost me 75.00 to swap mine. As soon as I switched stocks, I listed the .308 with the Hunter stock and it sold within an hour for 75 less than what I had in the Hunter.

The Fieldcraft is a great route, due COAL and I've seen me rebarrel a REALtana before..............
If the Fieldcraft is a 10, where would you rate the Montucky? I'd be happy with 8 or 9.

You have already proved that you're bad for my wallet. The upside is I have a much better rifle line-up now.

I read elsewhere that the Fieldcraft is a rust bucket that couldn't handle being babied on Kodiak. Five days in a tent and it fared far worse than a Tikka that was out in the weather.

Bullets matter wayyyyyyyyy more than headstamps and Greatness is factored by RPM,COAL and throat geometry.

Specify a boolit/chambering and I can extrapolate the relative merit,in kind..............
