Some for me, some for Chuck, and some powertrolling. Going to be a big one this summer. I think I'm at 75 charter days.

Getting estimates to add a 1000sq B&B/Apartments on the side of the house to give me more flexibility in my fishing packages.

B&B seems like a whole other level of work but I guess its just another part of the deal.

Is there enough business out there to support another full time operation? Having watched the numbers of lodges grow exponentially over the years, I wonder when the customer base will get stretched too thin and outfits will begin to fail.

Operations in Craig have grown, but a lot have disappeared too. Less boats on the water now than their was 15 years ago when I started. A lot of lodge owners nearing retirement which will be interesting. It's a pretty good time to be getting in, particularly for locals who know how to fish and can operate a bit more cheaply than the bigger operations. The prices are really high for the bigger operations. When fishing is tough, there is a night and day difference between being on a boat with a guide who can fish and a guide who is doing it for a summer job from who knows where.

Very few guys actually can get in anymore due to the charter halibut permits. Only 580 in SE AK, and 160 can't be transferred and will disappear. Not a single one on the market right now. Kinda sucks it went that route, as it's one more opportunity gone for most of the locals.

Let's just hope we can still catch kings in another year or two...

No kidding. Reality is setting in that I will be shut down March 15 this year for kings. A real bummer as April is my favorite time of the year.
